Urban Symbiotics worked with the Hammersmith Academy and the Royal Institute of Architects (RIBA) with the aim of engaging teenagers to form a vision for the future of their built environment.
Teenagers were engaged due to them being a key demographic that are often excluded from discussions focussed on the built environment, but are often the main cause of anti-social problems and complaints. By engaging and truly understanding their real needs, aspirations and fears, we worked with the group to help them design their neighbourhoods to include their public space, built form and social media presence. The work empowered younger people to be engaged and involved in the design of the spaces that they live and play but also provided a wealth of information that may now assist future policies and best practice interventions.
