A progressive strategy and vision commission by the council and actively delivered by a community
We co-created an inspiring, community-led vision and regeneration for Purley town centre in Croydon to ensure its rapid development clearly benefited its residents, businesses and community. The vision to transform Purley into an active and evolving destination that’s radically inclusive was developed together with its diverse Purley Panel (see link). The vision includes physical, social, cultural and sustainable strategies for the area alongside key innovative and bespoke projects to benefit its community and stakeholders. It includes targeted development principles, urban design strategies and tested innovative cultural and retail models such as third-age universities, talking libraries and high street community websites. After the bankruptcy of Croydon Council, we used our expertise in gaining public funding to support the Purley Panel (a panel we initially curated) to gain funding from the Mayor’s High Street Fund For All, as well as achieving exemplar high street status for the borough of Croydon.
